Raleigh, NC – Raleigh web development firm, WebUneek, in conjunction with Raleigh graphic design firm, Davis Graphic Design, announced this week that they have launched a redesigned web presence for Wake Teen Medical Services, a Raleigh-based, nonprofit organization that provides inexpensive health care services for teens and young adults.
According to Robin Temple, the Director of Development for Wake Teen Medical Services, the Wake Teen staff had a number of goals they wanted to accomplish with a redesigned website. “We wanted to re-establish our presence on the web,” said Robin. “Many teens were not even using the site. We had no social networking presence, like Facebook and Twitter, which many of them were used to using. We wanted our site to reflect a humanistic, happy-go-lucky spirit. We also wanted to help teens find information relevant to them about medical, mental health, and nutrition issues.”
Colleen Davis, owner of Davis Graphic Design, understood Robin’s goals. “We felt that the previous version of their website did not speak to the uniqueness of what their organization did for young people,” said Colleen. “We also wanted to improve their ability to reach their target audience, teens and their parents. We did this by segmenting the website into two categories: Teens/Young Adults and Parents/Adults, then providing content using language appropriate for each group.”
Kevin Kirkman, owner of WebUneek, also used his company’s experience in web development to meet Robin’s goals. “We set up a customized version of the Drupal content management system for Wake Teen and trained their administrators and users on the product,” said Kevin. “We provided a hosting solution for all email and set up access to webmail. We also wanted to create a social networking component, so we added links from the Wake Teen website to Facebook and Twitter.”
Robin is very satisfied with the results of the collaboration between Davis Graphic Design and WebUneek. “Our sight is now interactive, easy to read and to use, by both teens and adults,” said Robin. We have many more people now visiting our user friendly site.”
